Lisa Gambey was born in New Caledonia, an island in the South Pacific, in 1987. She grew up by the ocean, spending most of her childhood in the water, observing light and colour from under the surface. She studied graphic design in France, and drawing at ENSAV La Cambre, Brussels. In 2016, Lisa shifted her focus from paper to textile. She mainly works with silk, painting or dyeing it, sewing and embroidering details with great care and the utmost pleasure. She is also active as a costume designer for dance and theatre productions, in Belgium and the Netherlands.
Lisa now works between Brussels and Andros, Greece. You can find her silk pieces at Taxidi Tinos.
